Greetings! I’m Jacob.
I love Jesus, and I live in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
I grew up moving around. My family had no hometown because my dad was a pilot for the Coast Guard. Ergo, we moved a lot.
I graduated from Auburn University on May 10, 2007 with a BA in English and Philosophy.
Michelle, my high school sweet heart, and I got married on May 26, 2007. She’s the joy of my life! Brilliant, godly, wise, and hot. As a family, we’ve walked through both infertility and miscarriage. I’ve journaled through the experience of losing a baby to miscarriage here, as well as through our struggles with infertility here. Our son, Owen Scott Young, who was born on October 18, 2010. Michelle runs a blog about our family HERE! where she basically catalogs the joys of our family life.
After getting married, we moved to the Philadelphia area to join Covenant Fellowship Church in Glen Mills, PA, which is a part of Sovereign Grace Ministries. I’m a computer technician for a company in the area.
About this blog
The blog’s subtitle is “Memoirs of a living oak”. In Isaiah 61:3, God calls his people “oaks of righteousness” planted by the Lord himself, for his own glory. Often, I feel like a slow grower constantly weathering the seasons of life. But that’s how oaks grow – slowly, bit by bit, and that’s what the Lord says glorifies him. So this blog is my small attempt to write out small thoughts of my life planted in Jesus Christ, the True Vine. My posts will generally be devotional-type thoughts that I’ve been meditating on, usually in 500-800 word bites. I also post book reviews, and from time to time will put up poetry that I’ve written. I try to keep things short on this blog because I assume that you are probably like me: with little time to read long blog posts and looking for a little edification all the same. I read the Puritans quiet a bit, so a good number of my posts come from them.

It looks as if you were or are currently going to WTS. I graduated in 2009 with an MAR in Thelogical Studies. I really enjoyed my time there (which mosty took place during the Enns controversy). Are you enjoying it? Feel free to delete my comment and email if you like.
